While the 6'7" 270 lbs forward waits on the bench for much of the game, his presence keeps the game honest and boosts his teammates' morale.
He takes pride in his non-pugilistic abilities, but when he takes the ice—everyone in the arena takes notice because the guilty will be confronted.
And they will be held responsible.
The All-Star Game gives hockey fans everywhere an opportunity to vote for their favorite players. Traditionally this honor has been reserved solely for the skilled players, guys you'd want on your power play unit or lining up for a game-winner during a shootout. However, getting named to the squad isn't an award like the Hart, Norris, or Vezina Trophies which honor the games greats, but rather an acknowledgement to the guys who entertain the fans nightly.

So this year why not honor another type of player and let NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman know that you like the physical part of the game. The Vote for Boogey campaign hopes to acknowledge the hard work of one Minnesota's favorite players, Derek Boogaard. So get out and vote!
